In the ED
After being transferred to the ward
After church, I went to change her nappy and found that she had a large red inflammation that covered almost one whole side of her bottom. That meant a trip to the emergency department.

When we got to the hospital we found that Abi did indeed have a temperature - it was just over 39 degrees. And after seeing the paediatrician, she was diagnosed as having Cellulitis. The doctor did some blood tests which came back with a very high white cell count. This caused them concern, so to rule out meningitis they did a lumber puncture. Praise God, her spinal fluid was clear.
Temperature down - time to play!
After trying 3 times to get the cannula in, she was started on IV antibiotics and admitted. The infection was quite severe and it took longer than expected for the antibiotics to do their job. The high temperature also persisted on and off for a few days. Although, the times when her temperature was normal, she was bright and bubbly.
"I can sit again!"
Abi was released from hospital on Thursday with oral antibiotics and she is to follow up with the paediatrician on the 24th. The rash has continued to improve in leaps and bounds.
Progressed to full 'grandpa' pyjamas ;) (she really enjoyed that toy...)
And can I just say, the great thing about homeschooling is...
...we can work anywhere!
Only by His grace,
Sorry the photos are poor quality - I only had my mobile.
